The Big Question!

How is working with a VA cheaper than hiring an employee?

Working with a virtual assistant (VA) is often more cost-effective than hiring a full-time employee for several reasons

No Employee Overheads: When you hire an employee, you typically have to cover:

  • National Insurance contributions

  • Pension contributions

  • Paid holidays and sick leave

  • Training and onboarding costs

  • Equipment (laptop, desk, office supplies, software)

With a VA, you avoid all of these. They are self-employed and responsible for their own taxes, equipment, and ongoing development

Only Pay for What You Need: Employees are paid for their full shift regardless of how busy they are. With a VA:

  • You can hire them on an ad-hoc basis or for a set number of hours.

  • You only pay for the time spent on actual tasks.

  • There's no wasted time, you’re paying for productivity, not presence.

No Office Space Required: Hiring an employee often means needing a physical workspace. A VA works remotely, meaning:

  • No additional rent, utilities, or office-related expenses.

  • No need for in-house tech support or resources.

Scalable and Flexible Support: VAs offer flexibility that full-time employees typically don’t:

  • Need help just a few hours a week? No problem.

  • Have a busy season or need extra support for a project? Easily scale up your hours without a long-term contract.

Reduced Hiring and HR Costs

  • No need to go through a lengthy recruitment process.

  • No long-term commitments or redundancy risks.

  • No HR headaches like appraisals, grievances, or performance management.
